Hi everyone! We hope you had a great 4th of July and got to celebrate with friends and family!
We are all seeing the stories on the news about how "WEDDINGS ARE BACK" and yes, they are definitely back. But that doesn't mean that all of the challenges have disappeared.
Today, I thought it would be helpful to share some of the challenges that are still out there for those planning weddings and share some thoughts on how to overcome those challenges.
Top 5 Challenges Facing Couples Planning Weddings as we emerge from Covid:
1. There are very limited dates at many venues for 2021 and 2022. Believe it or not some places are booking into 2023. Weekend dates at peak season are practically non-existent right now. And many venues are now doing weekday weddings.
2. The staffing shortage is real. This is not a political statement. It's just a fact. Many hotels, restaurants and venues had to furlough employees during the worst of the pandemic. Some of those people have chosen not to go back to hospitality. Finding the right people to fill open positions has been a challenge.
It may take a few days longer to get a proposal or a call back. They are overwhelmed and going the best that they can. Please give a little extra grace to all of these folks.
3. Prices are higher on everything from flowers, to some food items, to staffing and labor costs. Supply chains are still recovering...that includes having enough truck drivers to deliver items timely, ransomware attacks have affected multiple industries, floral farmers in South America had to destroy crops as they had no one to tend them during shutdowns. All of these things add up to higher costs.
NO wedding vendors are not raising rates to make up for lost income.
4. Not only are venues booked out, so are photographers, DJs, Bands, Florists, Wedding Planners. (Over the last few months we have had multiple inquiries for the same popular dates, more than once).
5. Expect more of your guests than anticipated to attend your wedding. We have not been able to celebrate or travel for over a year. People want to celebrate, they want to dance and have fun. They want to see you. And if your wedding is during winter, but is in a warm weather climate, expect those out of town guests to be there!
The biggest ways to handle the challenges are:
1. Understand where the difficulties lie
2. Show some grace and patience with your wedding pros. They are doing their very best.
3. Understand that your budget will be affected and that may mean adjusting some priorities or guest counts.
4. Remember why you are having a wedding...It's to celebrate the commitment that two people are making to each other.
At Fabuluxe Events we are working diligently everyday to ensure that our couples are getting the best possible service from us. We want to make sure that we recommend and work with the wedding pros that best fit your needs, style, personality and budget. We would rather take a little bit of extra time to make sure something is done correctly than to rush to get something out and be incorrect or have mistakes.
As always, we are here for questions and to just talk through things with you. No question is too random, too crazy, etc. We will work together to find solutions to all challenges!
Cheers!
