We all do it...check out Pinterest for inspiration in whatever we have happening. When you are planning a wedding, multiply that Pinterest time by 1,000,000. It's so easy to get sucked into the Pinterest vortex of wedding stuff!
There are a bazillion photos to see, DIY projects to be contemplated and more ideas than you can comprehend. But then you start to see the same pins over and over again. And then you start to see those things over and over again at real life weddings. Boom! A Trend is born.
That Trend takes on a life of its own.
But take a step back from the computer/ipad/phone. Think about those things you see on Pinterest. Are they a reflection of you and your style? Are they what you want in your wedding? Or do you think you should want them because they are on Pinterest?
Will you look back at your wedding photos and say "what was I thinking?"
Your wedding should be a celebration of you and your fiance as individuals and as a couple. Pinterest is a great way to get inspiration for your big day. And there are some amazingly creative ideas out there. But just because it is on Pinterest doesn't mean you have to do it. Be true to who you are and what your vision is for your wedding.
And please, don't ask your photographer to recreate a bunch of photos you see on Pinterest. Show them photos for your inspiration. Your photographer is a professional. He/she will get the photos that are right for your venue, for the time of day, the lighting, the family moments and all of that good stuff. Don't take away their creativity by asking them to recreate someone else's work.
Take those inspirations from Pinterest and make them your own. You will be glad you did!
